Peer Mentoring in the Charitable Sector: How and Why
Please read before registering, below.

The Atlantic Charities Learning Exchange ACLE is recruiting mentors in the charitable sector - persons or organizations willing to assist their peers (other charities) with annual reporting to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

This is one of five Atlantic Canada planning meetings in November 2009 among small and rural registered charities.  The sessions will focus on what kind of mentoring is possible among or between small charities.

In the meetings, we will:
    * Look at each region in terms of how many charities exist
    * Examine whether mentoring is possible
    * Discuss how to mentor
    * Consider how to recruit mentors
    * Examine the resources mentors need. Click here to look at the agenda.

 If you have questions, call organizers Sheila Kennedy or Darlene Scott at 1 866 753 9860 (toll free) in St. John’s at Community Services Council Newfoundland and Labrador.

Important:
  • Some travel subsidies apply but you must contact the organizers in advance to confirm your ability to claim reimbursement for kilometerage.
  • If you need the subsidy, be sure to click that button in the Sign Up below and we will contact you, directly. (Claim forms will be brought to the meeting)
Seating is limited to 20 participants and we will try to register on a first come first served basis, but rural and small charities are a priority target group for the meeting.  ACLE reserves the right to ask charities to send only one representative so that we can meet with the maximum number of charities (i.e., up to 20).

Remember: You do not need to be an accountant or have any advanced training to become a peer mentor. All you need is some experience in completing the annual return and a willingness to help another charity in your community.

Lunch is provided.
